 Artist Bio: Hi I'm Chris. Thanks for visiting and I hope you like the images on the site.
I've been into cars for as long as I can remember and doodling them for almost as long. If there was a margin in a school book, it would be full of cars. A rainy family caravan holiday would usually produce a stack of automotive concepts. 

I even went as far as to begin a university degree in car design. However, even 20 years ago, there was too much 3D computer modelling for my liking. I had missed the era of pen to paper design by about 15 years. Also the reality of likely being stuck designing wing mirrors or floor mats sort of took away some of the magic. So it went back on the back burner and remained a hobby.

Fast forward to 2017 and I began to dabble, ironically, in computer based vector art and design, producing a limited run of 3 quarter view drawings of cars in very high detail. They were special orders which took more than 20 hours each to complete. They were satisfying to produce but not really viable as a business as I was only charging a fraction of a decent hourly rate.

A couple of years later I had the idea to approach a few Facebook car groups, the members of which love their cars, they would find any excuse to post a photo of their car daily. They loved the idea of their cars as art but preferred the idea of a drawing on a budget so I began with simple line drawings of their cars in profile.

I was still learning the techniques as time went on and still am. The shading became better and the drawings got tidier. In 2020 I created Arto Auto as a brand name for my drawings, still very much a paid hobby, and it proved to be a lifeline during the pandemic both for my sanity and keeping financially afloat. 

I now find myself finally with enough designs that it seemed a good idea to start ArtoAuto.com and showcase all the designs in one place and offer my services to a wider audience. I hope you like what you see and if you got this far, thanks for reading.
